NEW ORLEANS -- The Tulane women's tennis squad (5-13) will wrap regular season play with a pair of matches this weekend, starting with Stephen F. Austin (11-8) on Friday, April 8, at Noon CT. The Green Wave will then host conference foe Memphis (1-15) on Sunday, at 10 a.m. Sunday's regular season finale marks Senior Day for Ipek Birol, Jacqui Katz and Meredith Maltby.
SENIOR DAY
On Sunday, the Green Wave will honor its three seniors in Birol, Katz and Maltby before the match. Together, the trio have combined for over 142 career singles wins and 105 doubles wins.
HOME OF THE WAVE
Four of Tulane's five wins have come from the friendly confines of the City Park Pepsi Tennis Center, as the Wave boast a 4-4 home record. The Olive and Blue have knocked off Nicholls State, Maryland, Colorado and Akron all at home.
A GLANCE AT STEPHEN F. AUSTIN
A familiar face will be returning to New Orleans as last year's Tulane assistant coach Jon McLaughlin has been guiding Stephen F. Austin all season. The Ladyjacks enter Friday's contest 11-8 on the year with a 2-6 record in road matches. SFA is coming off of a 5-2 win at Nicholls State on April 3.
The Ladyjacks roster consists of just six individuals, three of whom are freshmen. Denise Maxl holds down the No. 1 singles position with an 8-9 record. Maxl and Vanesa Calvo Pardo lead the doubles effort with an 8-2 mark this spring.
A GLANCE AT MEMPHIS
Memphis has just one win to their name this spring and it came in their season opener vs Tennessee at Chattanooga. This month, the Tigers have lost 4-2 to North Texas and 5-1 to SMU. Memphis will battle UAB on April 8 before making the trip to New Orleans. Janina Berres leads the Tigers in dual matches with a 6-6 record, primarily playing the No. 4 singles position.
