May 14, 2016 | Baseball
NEW ORLEANS - No. 15 Tulane baseball got off to a rocky start on Saturday at Greer Field at Turchin Stadium and could never fully bounce back, as the Green Wave fell to Memphis, 8-1, snapping a seven-game winning streak.
How It Was Won
Tulane (34-15, 12-6) fell behind in the top of the second when Memphis (17-34, 8-12) put five on the board on five hits and an error. The Tigers added runs in the third and the fourth, while Memphis starter Matt Ferguson held the Green Wave in check throughout most of the contest. Tulane only totaled four hits, with Stephen Alemais and Jake Willsey posting two apiece. Alemais drove Willsey in on an RBI-single in the bottom of the eighth for Tulane's lone run.
Quote
"We're at this stage of the season, they know what's at stake. They understand it. We don't panic when we lose and we don't celebrate, or overly celebrate, when we win. We'd like to go business as usual, get to work in the morning, and be ready to play."
~Tulane baseball head coach David Pierce
