
Baseball Loses 2-1 Saturday Contest To Creighton

NEW ORLEANS  – The Tulane baseball team (9-10) allowed two runs in the first inning and unfortunately saw the deficit hold up in a 2-1 home loss to Creighton (7-8) on Saturday, March 14, on Green Field at Turchin Stadium.
Jack Frankel (1-1) was tagged with the loss for Tulane. He started allowed two runs in 3.2 innings with five strikeouts. The Tulane bullpen threw 5.1 scoreless frame to keep the team in the game throughout. Blaise Wilcenski was the first man out of the bullpen. He had a pair of scoreless innings with three hits allowed and two strikeouts. Jack Brafa went 1.1 with only one hit allowed. Beau Sampson completed the game with two scoreless innings with three strikeouts.
Tye Wood led the offense with a pair of hits. Nate Johnson walked three times plus had a hit and a run scored. Johnny Elliott drove in Tulane's only run. Jason Wachs, Tanner Chun and Kaikea Harrison all recorded a hit.
The Green Wave totaled seven hits and seven walks, but also went 0-8 with runners in scoring position.
The win was earned by the Bluejays reliever JT Adams (2-1). Adams threw 3.2 scoreless frames out of the bullpen as the most effective reliever of the three that were used.
Creighton, just like the first game of the series, again broke out for runs in the opening inning on the two-run double from Ben North.

Tulane cut the lead in half in the fourth on the two-out double from Elliott.
The Green Wave put multiple runners on base in the sixth, seventh and ninth innings but were only able to break through to tie or take the lead the game.
Next, Tulane plays the third game of the series against the Bluejays on Sunday, March 15, starting at 12 p.m.

Jason Wachs extended his on-base streak to 45 games from the end of last season and the first 19 games this year with a hit against Creighton in the second game…The 45 games is a career high…The current four-game losing streak is the longest for the program since last season (3/25-4/1/25) when the team lost five in a row… The game marked the 10th time this season that Tulane's pitching staff has reached double digits in strikeouts (10)…The 2-1 loss was the first for the program since losing back-to-back 2-1 games to Pepperdine last season (2/28 and 3/1/25)…The weekend series loss to Creighton is only the second time that Tulane has lost a weekend series this season.
