NEW ORLEANS - With the NCAA Division-I men's tennis season officially in the books, Oracle/ITA released their end of season team, singles and doubles rankings on Wednesday. After a 16-9 record and their first trip to the NCAA Tournament in 11 years, Tulane caps its year at No. 31. In singles, Dominik Koepfer checked in at No. 4, while fellow teammate Constantin Schmitz landed the No. 105 spot. In doubles, Koepfer and partner Chi-Shan Jao were ranked No. 18.
Koepfer's No. 4 ranking marks the highest singles finish in program history, topping both Robert Samuelsson in 1998 and Michael Kogan in 2004 (each finished at No. 10). Koepfer recorded a 32-5 overall record and earned 103 singles victories over his four-year career, as the latter ranks second all-time. The Germany native was also a back-to-back NCAA All-American, the ITA National Men's Senior Player of the Year and the National Indoor Intercollegiate singles champion.
Furthermore, today marks just the third time a Green Wave competitor finished within the top-20 in both singles and doubles, as Koepfer follows in the footsteps of Michael Kogan, who achieved the feat both in 2003 and 2004.
