Greer comes to Tulane having spent last five years at ETSU
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane Ben Weiner Director of Athletics Chair Troy Dannen announced today the hiring of Jamieka Charvi Greer as the Green Wave's new Associate Athletic Director for Academic Advising as well as the Senior Women's Administrator.
Greer comes to Tulane from East Tennessee State University, where she spent the last five years (2011-16) in the same role. At Tulane, Greer will manage and lead the operations of the Academic Services for Student Athletes.
"Charvi is a rising star in athletic administration, and has also experienced intercollegiate athletics as a student-athlete at the highest level," said Dannen. "Her understanding that the academic and athletic experience serve as partners, not adversaries, in student-athlete growth and development, is critically important to the ultimate outcome we seek from the intercollegiate experience."
At ETSU, Greer developed, implemented and evaluated all aspects of the academic support program for student-athletes. Prior to joining ETSU, Greer spent 10 months at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) as a student-athlete support services assistant.
A native of Auburn, Alabama, Greer graduated with a Bachelor of Science from the University of Georgia – where she played softball - in May 2007 before earning her Master's of Science from Georgia in May 2010. She is slated to earn her Ph.D. in Education in May 2018 from East Tennessee State University.
Additionally, Dannen announced the hiring of Austin Hansen as the Director of New Media. Hansen comes to Tulane after recently graduating from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts in Electronic Media Leadership.
At Tulane, Hansen will support athletics programs and external departments by promoting and enhancing - through digital and social media - the image of the Green Wave athletics programs.
