Atkinson, Karagoz Wrap Play at ULM Fall Tournament

Juniors compete in singles and doubles draws in two-day event
MONROE, La. – Juniors Sade Atkinson and Naz Karagoz represented the Tulane women's tennis team this weekend at the ULM Fall Tournament, which officially kick started the fall campaign for the Green Wave. The twosome competed in separate singles draws and joined together to compete in the main doubles draw as well.
In the top doubles draw, Atkinson and Karagoz got off to a hot start, defeating Brett/Erlandsson of McNeese State 6-3. However, in the semis, Southeastern Louisiana's Dahlmans/Holtkamp bested the Wave duo, 6-4.
In singles play, Karagoz competed in the top singles draw, where she was halted in the first round by ULM's Tiffany Mylonas, 7-5, 6-1. Karagoz bounced back in the consolation semis with a decisive 6-4, 6-3 victory over Dany Raygades of SELU, but fell short in her next match to McNeese State's Hannah Brett, 6-1, 6-2.
Meanwhile, over in Singles Draw Two, Atkinson cruised to a 6-3, 6-1 first round victory over SELU's Fluer Holtkamp. However, the New Zealand native was stopped in the semis by Louisiana Tech's Marta Sramkova, 6-4, 6-1.
Up next, the Olive and Blue will head west to compete in the Rice Fall Invite, taking place Sept. 23-25.
