Six-of-nine Green Wave emerge victorious on Saturday
TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Tulane men's tennis team enjoyed a winning Saturday in day two action at the Crimson Tide Four-In-The-Fall. Competing in singles matches only today, the Green Wave emerged with six victories out of its nine participants, mainly against competitors from Alabama.
No. 66 Constantin Schmitz highlighted the day with a big 3-6, 6-3, 4-0 victory over No. 34 Mazen Osama. Now, Schmitz wasn't the lone Green Wave to grit out a three-set victory: Luis Erlenbusch notched a 6-1, 2-6, 6-3 win vs Langford Hills; Chi-Shan Jao delivered a 6-3, 5-7, 6-3 win over Alexey Nesterov; Freshman Tim Ruetzel bested Ritchie Kruunenberg, 6-4, 6-7(5), 6-3.
Eric Wagner added another win to his name with a 7-6(7), 6-1 victory vs. Turner Voges of Memphis. Lastly, freshman Jonathan Star defeated Hayes Brewer, 6-3, 6-3.
Next, Tulane will wrap the three-day event with doubles and singles against Memphis on Sunday at 9 a.m.
