NASHVILLE – The Tulane women's tennis team continues to roll during the start of the 2017 dual season, earning a 6-1 road victory on Friday evening at Belmont to improve to 3-0 on the young season. The Green Wave remained unblemished in doubles then received straight-set singles victories from its top-four positions in the line-up.
Â
"Obviously we are happy with getting a road win tonight especially playing indoors as we haven't hit indoors since October," Tulane head coach Terri Sisk stated. "I thought we played really well in several spots and even though we lost mental focus in other spots, we rebounded well and got the win. We have a quick turnaround as we play at Eastern Kentucky on Sunday, which is another solid indoor team. The girls are up for the challenge and I expect them to continue to address any issues they have early in this season."
Â
In doubles, the pairing of Kyla Klier and Christina Sisti continued their hot start, improving to 3-0 after a 6-2 win on court three. Naz Karagoz and Elena Muller then followed that up with a 6-1 win over on court one.
Â
The Wave kept the momentum rolling in singles as Klier and Sade Atkinson picked up their first dual wins of the spring on courts two and three, respectively. Then, Karagoz and Muller clinched the team win with their respective third dual victories on the year.
Â
With the match already decided, freshmen Christina Sisti and Isabelle Entenza played only an eight-game pro set with Sisti cruising to an 8-2 victory on court five.
Â
Up next, Tulane continues its road trip by trekking over to Eastern Kentucky for a Sunday morning match-up against the Colonels at 9 a.m. CT. Lastly, for a complete list of scores of tonight's match, please see below.
