RICHMOND, K.Y. – The Tulane women's tennis team completed an unblemished road trip on Sunday morning, defeating Eastern Kentucky, 6-1, to improve to 4-0 on the season. The Wave maintained its hot streak in doubles, taking the early 1-0 lead, before receiving singles victories from Naz Karagoz, Kyla Klier, Sade Atkinson, Elena Muller and Christina Sisti. Â
Â
"Proud of the team for yet another quality indoor win against an OVC contender," Tulane head coach Terri Sisk stated. "These type of wins really solidify that we are tough in any conditions and when we are competing as a team, anything is possible."
Â
In doubles, the pairing of Sisti and Klier continued to roll at the No. 3 spot, clinching the point with a 6-2 victory to improve to 4-0. Meanwhile, Karagoz and Muller jumped to 3-0 after cruising to a 6-1 decision.
Â
Speaking of Karagoz and Muller, the duo each shone in singles as well, recording straight-set victories to improve to 4-0 on the young season. Karagoz dispatched Viktorija Demcenkova 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1, while Muller toppled Margaux Lacroix, 7-5, 6-1, at No. 5.
Â
"I put the girls under pressure quickly this year on the road against two indoor teams that play on fast surfaces and they definitely rose to the challenge. Now we will turn our focus to another solid double header on Saturday and begin preparations for that on Tuesday," Sisk added.
Â
Up next, the Olive and Blue return to City Park in New Orleans for another home double-header, when they host Northwestern State on Saturday, Jan. 28, at 11 a.m. CT, followed by Southern at 3 p.m.
