PROVIDENCE, R.I. – After spearheading a 2-0 week for the Tulane women's basketball team, junior Kolby Morgan picked up her first career American Athletic Conference Player of the Week honor, marking just the second time a Tulane player has done so. Morgan tallied 20 points and eight rebounds vs Tulsa on Jan. 25, before recording her first double-double on the season, achieving career highs in points (35) and rebounds (12), in the 74-68 overtime win at Cincinnati.
Morgan scored all 12 of Tulane's points in the first quarter at Cincinnati, then netted 10 of the Wave's 13 fourth quarter points, including a pivotal three with 20 seconds left in regulation. Morgan then tacked on six more points in overtime to reach her career high 35th point.
Morgan is currently on the best streak of her career, as Saturday's performance marked her sixth straight game with 20+ points. The New Orleans native is averaging 23.8 points on 46.1 percent shooting from the field, along with 6.5 rebounds per game, during that stretch.
Morgan and the rest of the Green Wave return to action Tuesday, at 7 p.m. CT, in Houston.
