Men's Tennis Gears Up For ITA Southern Regional

NEW ORLEANS - After two weeks off from tournament play, the Tulane men's tennis team will return to the courts on a trip to Baton Rouge, La., for the 2017 ITA Southern Regional hosted by LSU. Competition begins Thursday, October 19 with pre-qualifying matches and concludes Monday with championship rounds.
The event comprises a singles draw of 128 participants, while the doubles draw includes 32 teams. Live scoring for all matches on all 18 courts can be found at LSUstats.com.
Last year, the Green Wave was led by Constantin Schmitz in Auburn, Ala., who was runner-up in the singles main draw after five straight victories. Along with Schmitz, Sebastian Rey reached the quarterfinals, while Chi-Shan Jao made it into the round of 16.
The singles and doubles champions will advance to the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, New York, in November. In 2015, Tulane alum Dominik Koepfer claimed the national indoor title.
