Volleyball Listed in Consideration for NIVC Postseason Tournament

NEW ORLEANS -- The National Invitational Volleyball Championship, a 64-team postseason volleyball tournament for NCAA Division I programs, announced Thursday a list of more than 110 programs – including Tulane volleyball – it has contacted to gauge interest in the event.
The NIVC offers teams who do not receive an NCAA volleyball tournament berth an opportunity to extend their season and experience postseason-atmosphere games.Â
The NIVC is making its return to collegiate volleyball after a 22-year hiatus. The tournament was held for seven seasons (1989-95) as a 20-team event but now offers 32 automatic berths – one to each established conference – and 32 at-large berths. Tournament rounds are single-elimination with all matches hosted by participating schools.
The NIVC field and bracket will be announced November 26 after the NCAA Tournament field is selected. Rounds one and two of the tournament run Nov. 28-30, round three is Dec. 1-3 and round four is Dec. 4-6. The semifinals are Dec. 7-9, and the championship match is held Dec. 12.
Single-game tickets for the 2017 season remain on sale. Tickets may be purchased by calling 504-861-WAVE(9283), logging onto TulaneTix.com or visiting the ticket office at the James W. Wilson Jr. Center.
