NEW ORLEANS – No. 13 Tulane bowling travels to Chicago for the Crusader Classic, hosted by Valparaiso, Friday-Sunday, Feb. 17-19 at Lakewood Bowling Center.
The 11-team tournament begins Friday with Baker matches, with traditional format matches taking place Saturday. The tournament will conclude with best 4-of-7 Baker Match bracket play to determine the final standings.
Tulane is one of six teams ranked in the NTCA Top-25 Poll competing in Chicago this weekend. No. 1 Nebraska, No. 2 Arkansas State, No. 11 Central Missouri, No. 23 Valparaiso and No. 24 Youngstown State join the Wave, while Aurora, Elmhurst, Lincoln Memorial, Maryville and Wisconsin-Whitewater round out the field.
"We need to be a little sharper, get back on shooting the spares, and feed off each other again," Tulane Head Coach Hayley Veitch said. "Last week is gone and this week is a new start. The quick turnaround could work in our favor. This will be a similar lane pattern, so we should be prepared. We just have to play how the lanes play, and not try to create something that isn't there."
Last weekend, the Green Wave placed 15th at the SFA Stormin' Ladyjacks Classic. The Green Wave posted a 4-9 record, 12,510 pin total, and 187.00 pin average in the tournament, and went 2-1 in bracket play on Sunday. Senior Kierstyn Rush led the Green Wave with a 35th-place individual finish and a 196.00 five-match pin average, while freshman Isabelle Lee followed in 73rd with a four-match average of 204.75.
