NEW ORLEANS – Following a 4-0 performance at last weekend's Blazer Duals, the No. 17 Tulane beach volleyball team returns to Alabama for a five-match set at the Badger Beach Bash hosted by Spring Hill College in Gulf Shores. In the second week of the young season, the Green Wave look to add to their four consecutive match sweeps to build on the hottest start in program history.
ABOUT THE BADGER BEACH BASH
In Gulf Shores, the Green Wave will take on two familiar opponents in UL-Monroe and Jacksonville State, as well as Houston Baptist, CCSA foe No. 19 Florida Atlantic and host Spring Hill. Competition opens up on Saturday morning with a 11 a.m. contest against the Owls of FAU, followed by a 1 p.m. rematch with in-state rival ULM.
Sunday will be action-packed for the Green Wave, as Tulane plays at 10 a.m., 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. against Houston Baptist, Jacksonville State and Spring Hill, respectively, to wrap up the weekend.
Last weekend, the Green Wave defeated Jacksonville State and ULM, taking each dual on 5-0 match sweeps to improve to 2-3 in the all-time series with the Warhawks.
Tulane's Saturday match-up with No. 19 FAU will be the first meeting between the two teams this season. In 2016, the Green Wave dropped all three contests to the Owls, who lead the all-time series 3-1.
The Sunday opener against Houston Baptist will be the third meeting in program history, with Tulane taking both duals in 2016 on scores of 5-0 and 4-1. Tulane has swept Spring Hill on all five occasions, as the Green Wave take a 5-0 series lead into the road weekend.
UP NEXT
The Green Wave travel to LSU next weekend for another five-match outing at the Tiger Beach Challenge. In Baton Rouge, four of five opponents – No. 12 Florida International, No. 10 LSU, No. 15 South Carolina and UAB – will be CCSA match-ups.
