NEW ORLEANS – Tulane's beach volleyball team (8-1, 1-1 CCSA) will compete in the state of Louisiana for the first time this year as the Green Wave head down I-10 for LSU's Tiger Beach Challenge this weekend at Mango's Outdoor Volleyball complex. In Baton Rouge, the Green Wave will play five duals, facing four CCSA opponents and three national seeds, as Tulane looks to extend its four-match winning streak and continue the hot start to the young season. ABOUT THE TIGER BEACH CHALLENGE
Tulane opens up competition in Baton Rouge on Saturday morning, taking on host and CCSA foe No. 10 LSU at 11:00. The Green Wave are 5-1 against the Tigers in a rivalry that dates back to the 2014 season, with their sole loss coming in March of last year.
The Green Wave then have a quick turnaround with their second match coming just two hours later against another national seed and conference opponent, facing No. 8 South Carolina. In their last meeting, Tulane upended the Gamecocks on a score of 3-2 in the finale of the 2016 FIU Surf & Turf Invitational.
North Florida will serve as Tulane's final opponent of the day in a dual beginning at 4:00.
The Green Wave open up day two of the Tiger Beach Challenge bright and early with a 9:00 dual against CCSA foe UAB. Tulane last faced the Blazers in the season-opening Blazer Duals, coming away with a 5-0 sweep in the first day of competition.
One more conference opponent awaits Tulane in the final match-up of the weekend, as the Green Wave will take on No. 15 FIU at 1:00.
