BATON ROUGE, La. – The Tulane women's golf team concluded play at the LSU Tiger Golf Classic placing 15th at +70 (934).
Tulane fought through a tough first day, playing 36 holes in windy conditions, on the University Club course. The Green Wave rebounded to shave 19 strokes off their second-round score in Sunday's final round.
"As a team, we had a couple of difficult days on the course," said head coach Lorne Don. "I saw some positives from Haydyn (Gibson) and Sofia (Goicoechea) closed with a solid final round, but we were not consistent enough across our lineup to finish higher on the leaderboard."
Sophomore Sofia Goicoechea closed the tournament with an even par 72 in the final round to post the team's best round of the weekend. Starting her day on the 13th hole, she was +2 through six holes. Goicoechea went on to play bogey free over her final 12 holes, sinking birdies on the par 3, 153-yard 8th and par 4, 402-yard 10th.
Freshman Haydyn Gibson was -1 through her first nine holes in the Friday's first round and again through her first six holes in Sunday's final round. She closed the first round at +4 (76) and bounced back from a +13 (85) in the second round to post a +3 (75) on Sunday. Gibson capped off her final round with a birdie on her final hole, the par 5, 448-yard 14th.Â

Next up, Tulane heads to the Clemson Invitational March 31-April 2 at the Reserve at Lake Keowee in Sunset, S.C.
