NEW ORLEANS – With seven weeks of competition and 20 wins in the books, the women of Tulane beach volleyball now turn their attention to the postseason and the second annual Coastal Collegiate Sports Association Conference Championship. Much like 2016, this year's tournament will be held at Lakeport Sporting Community in Emerson, Georgia, where the Green Wave will compete in four head-to-head duals on Friday and Saturday, April 21-22 before the semifinals and finals on Sunday, April 23.
Tulane enters the weekend as the No. 8 seed in Pool A, joined by No. 1 Florida State, No. 4 South Carolina, No. 4 FIU and No. 9 UNC Wilmington. No. 2 LSU, No. 3 Georgia State, No. 6 FAU, No. 7 College of Charleston and No. 10 UAB make up Pool B.
Following two days of competition and four duals for each team, the top two teams in each pool will advance to the semifinals on Sunday morning. The winner of each semifinal will play in the championship match at noon, with an award ceremony immediately following
2017 SEASON IN REVIEW
The Green Wave enter the weekend at 20-11 on the year after sealing the season's 20th win in Saturday's match-up with UNCW to close out last weekend's Palmetto Invitational. 2017 now marks the second consecutive year and just the second time in program history that the Green Wave have reached the 20-win milestone.
Those 20 wins include 13 dual sweeps after Tulane opened the season on four consecutive 5-0 victories at the Blazer Duals in March. Since then, the Green Wave have gone undefeated against Jacksonville State, UL-Monroe, Houston Baptist and conference foes UAB and UNCW.
On March 31, Tulane upset No. 12 Arizona State in a 4-1 decision at the FIU Surf & Turf Invitational, with all four wins coming in straight sets.
In the regular season, the Green Wave were led by senior Tea Juric and Kaylie McHugh, who posted a team-leading 25-6 overall record, including a mark of 22-5 in the No. 2 position and a 3-1 mark on court one. The duo was most recently named to the All-CCSA Team for their accomplishments, while McHugh earned herself a spot on the All-Freshman Team.

MATCH 5: #4 FLORIDA STATE vs. TULANE
The Green Wave open the weekend looking for an upset against top-seeded Florida State (21-7), who enters the weekend at No. 4 in the nation on a pristine 8-0 conference record. Friday's 11:00 a.m. match-up will serve as the second meeting between the two teams this year, as the Green Wave last faced the Seminoles at the FIU Surf & Turf Invitational on March 31. In Miami, Tulane was unable to clinch the program's first win over FSU, falling in a disappointing 0-5 loss.
Â
MATCH 9: #10 FIU vs. TULANE
Day one at the CCSA Championships will conclude with a 2:00 p.m. contest against FIU (21-12, 8-5 CCSA), currently tied for the No. 10 national seed in the AVCA poll. A familiar foe, Tulane has seen the Panthers on two occasions this year, narrowly falling in a pair of 1-4 losses at the Tiger Beach Challenge and the FIU Surf & Turf earlier this season.
Â
MATCH 14: TULANE vs. UNCW
Tulane will have an early start in day two of the CCSA tournament, opening up at 9:30 a.m. against UNCW. The Green Wave are 2-0 this season against the first-year CCSA member school, first defeating the Seahawks on all five courts to wrap up the College of Charleston Beach Classic on March 25. Tulane last saw UNCW's squad last weekend at the Palmetto Invitational, where the Wave came away with a 4-1 decision and the program's 20th win of the season. Â
Â
MATCH 18: #12 SOUTH CAROLINA vs. TULANE
The Green Wave will wrap up pool play on Saturday afternoon with a 12:30 p.m. start against South Carolina (21-7, 11-5 CCSA). Tulane has seen the Gamecocks on two prior occasions this season, falling on identical scores of 1-4 at the Tiger Beach Challenge and the Palmetto Invitational.
UP NEXT
Tulane closes out the 2017 beach volleyball season next weekend at the New Orleans Duals, heading across town to face Houston Baptist and UNO at 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., respectively.Â
