
Five Teams Earn NCAA APR Public Recognition Awards

NEW ORLEANS – Tulane boasted five teams earning Public Recognition Awards for academic excellence based on their most recent multi-year NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate (APR), as released today by the NCAA national office.
The Green Wave's men's tennis, women's basketball, bowling, women's swimming & diving and volleyball teams were recognized for ranking in the top 10 percent of their respective sport from among the more than 1,200 Division I teams honored. The most recent APRs are multiyear rates are based on scores from the 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15 and 2015-academic years.
This marked the seventh straight year for men's tennis and women's swimming & diving, fourth straight year for women's basketball and bowling and third straight year for volleyball to be recognized as part of the NCAA APR Public Recognition Awards for outstanding academic achievements.
Among the 1,203 teams recognized across 306 schools, 746 were women's teams and 457 were men's teams or co-ed teams. The total number of teams being recognized increased by 132 from a year ago, largely as a result of an increase in perfect scores. Scores for programs in the top 10 percent ranged from 984 to a perfect 1,000, with 1,090 teams earning a perfect score.
Each year, the NCAA honors selected Division I sports teams by publicly recognizing their latest multiyear NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate. This announcement is part of the overall Division I academic reform effort and is intended to highlight teams that demonstrate a commitment to academic progress and retention of student-athletes by achieving the top APRs within their respective sports. Specifically, these teams posted multiyear APRs in the top 10 percent of all squads in each sport.
