Fabrizi joins Green Wave after one season with FAU
NEW ORLEANS – New Tulane women's tennis head coach Maria Brito is wasting zero time bolstering the Green Wave lineup after announcing the transfer of Laura Fabrizi from Florida Atlantic University. The incoming sophomore out of Caracas, Venezuela will be eligible to compete right away for the upcoming 2017-18 season.
"We are very excited to welcome Laura to our Tulane family," Brito stated. "She is not only bringing experience, but is also an incredible team player. Her mindset and attitude will be a great asset to our team."
Fabrizi played the No. 1 singles position at FAU as a freshman where she went 9-8 in dual matches and 9-9 overall. Fabrizi also played in the No. 1 doubles position where she led the team with a 13-7 record.
Fabrizi attended Florida Virtual School and was a four-star recruit, ranking inside the top-30 in the state and within the top-150 in the nation.
However, Fabrizi won't be the only newcomer this coming season as she'll be joined by freshman Daniela La Fuente, the right-hander out of Bolivia who achieved a career high world ITF ranking of 125. The Wave will also be backed by their five returnees in Ivone Alvaro, Sade Atkinson, Sofia Kurtz, Elena Muller and Christina Sisti.
