NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane men's tennis team will begin its second weekend of the 2017 fall season when it sends three student-athletes to the Rice Invitational and four more to the 2017 Saint Francis Health System ITA Men's All-American Championships.
The Rice Invitational will begin Friday, Sept. 29 and run through Sunday, Oct. 1 in Houston, while the All-American Championships will begin with pre-qualifying matches on Sept. 30 and run through Oct. 9 in Tulsa, Okla.
Senior and 13th-ranked Constantin Schmitz received an automatic bid into the main draw in Tulsa, while sophomore and 77th-ranked Ewan Moore was placed among qualifiers. Junior Tyler Schick and sophomore Luis Erlenbusch also earned pre-qualifying nods and will compete on day one of the championships.
Sophomores Tim Ruetzel and Chase Schupp, as well as junior Eric Wagner, will take the courts in Houston.
The Green Wave compiled a combined 16-10 singles mark at last weekend's Gators Ranked +1 Tournament and Alabama Invitational, led by Schmitz's and Schick's 3-1 records in Gainesville, as well as Ruetzel's 3-1 ledger in Tuscaloosa. Schick also scored three victories over top 100 opponents.
