Tulane Athletics Names Carey Goodman Director of Major Gifts
Sep 5, 2017 | General, Green Wave Club
NEW ORLEANS - Tulane University Athletics has hired Carey Goodman as director of major gifts for the Green Wave Club, according to an announcement by assistant athletics director for development Garrett Broom.
"We are very excited for Carey to join our team," Broom said. "Her background as a proven fundraiser in college athletics and her experience as a Division I student-athlete makes her a great fit for Tulane."
Prior to arriving in New Orleans, Goodman was assistant director of athletics development at William & Mary from 2014-2017 where she led the fundraising efforts for 11 women's athletics programs. Her primary focus was on major gift identification and prospecting, cultivation and engagement of alumnae, parents and friends, solicitation and stewardship for annual donors, endowments, and capital projects.
"She will have oversight of the Olive & Blue Society, which was established in March 2017. Olive & Blue serves as the philanthropic arm for the Green Wave Club which will help elevate our entire department. Support to Olive & Blue will focus on three areas: student-athlete welfare, recruiting resources, and future facility projects. Carey will do a great job guiding this program and gaining new members."
A native of Greensboro, N.C., Goodman received her bachelor's degree in sociology from Duke University in 2011 where she was a four-year letterwinner for the women's soccer team. She was named to the ACC Honor Roll all four years. Goodman received her MBA and master of sports administration from Ohio University in 2014, where she was elected vice president of her graduating class.
