Tulane Women’s Golf Begins Play at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational

AUSTIN, Texas – The Tulane University women's golf team opened competition Friday at the 2018 Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational and currently sit in ninth place after posting a team score of 310.

The three-day event is being held at the par 72, 6,491-yard University of Texas Golf Club and features five teams in the Golfweek Top 25 Poll.

"The conditions were challenging today and the course is very wet, but we had three really good rounds out there today and all the girls really battled hard," head coach Lorne Don said. "I think if we can put it all together, we can have a pretty good day out there tomorrow."
Â
Sophomore Jennifer Rosenberg led the way for the Green Wave, as she carded an opening round of 75 and is tied for 20th.

"Jenny played really solid today and hit some pretty good shots," Don said. "She's a confident player and she showed that today. She expects to play well and I think she did that today."
Â
Senior Laura Munoz and junior Haydyn Gibson also finished the day in the top 40, as they fired rounds of 76 and 77, respectively. Munoz enters day two tied for 30th and Gibson is tied for 35th.
Â
Senior Sofia Goicoechea and junior Gabrielle Correia rounded out the Green Wave lineup as they finished day one tied for 63rd (82) and tied for 71st (85), respectively.

Texas holds the overall team lead after it shot a score of 291. Texas also has the top individual in the field thanks to an opening round 68 by Agathe Laisne.
