Women's Tennis Rolls Through Day One at Roberta Allison Classic

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Tulane women's tennis team went unbeaten in doubles play and collected a handful of singles victories on the first day of the Roberta Allison Classic hosted by the University of Alabama on Friday.
The day began with on round of doubles across the eight draws, as Ivone Alvaro and Laura Fabrizi teamed up to take down a duo from Indiana in their first round match to advance to Sunday's semifinal in the Nancy Harris Draw. They will take on Mississippi State at 9 a.m., with the winner advancing to the championship match which will be played shortly thereafter.
In singles, Lavery and Fabrizi both earned straight-set wins in their respective first-round matches, but suffered setbacks in the semifinals.
Despite a tough, three-set defeat in the first round, Alegre responded with an impressive 6-4, 6-4 triumph in her consolation semifinal match against Aleksandra Sredojevic from Lewis College to reach Saturday's consolation final.
