Dannen to Take Part in the Devon Walker Foundation Head Painting Challenge
Oct 31, 2018 | Football, General
NEW ORLEANS – With your help, Tulane's Ben Weiner Director of Athletics Chair Troy Dannen could be painting the Angry Wave helmet directly on his head.
Â
The head painting would be part of the Devon Walker Foundation Head Painting Challenge, an idea created from discussions between Dannen and Tulane supporter and Campus Connection owner, Dave Cariello. With the establishment of this challenge, Dannen's head will be coated in Tulane colors when Green Wave fans raise $10,000 for the Devon Walker Trust.Â
Â
The Devon Walker Foundation, started by former Tulane safety Devon Walker and associates, raises money for preventive efforts and future medical research towards curing spinal cord injuries. The organization also prides itself on positively affecting and increasing the quality of life of as many individuals as possible currently living with spinal cord injuries.
Â
Cariello challenged Dannen to paint his head to match the Tulane football team's popular helmets from the Green Wave's victory over Memphis on September 28. The two men agreed that Dannen's head painting should support a worthy cause.
Â
All donations should be made online at this link. Donors who contribute $1,000 will be able to designate another individual to join Troy in having their heads painted.
Â
Tulane's goal is to reach $10,000 donated by Homecoming Week (November 4-10) and hold the head painting on November 7 at the James W. Wilson Jr. Center on campus. Representatives from the Devon Walker Foundation will join in on the festivities, getting their heads painted as well.
