Alvaro Collects Singles Win on Day Two of FSU Invitational
Nov 10, 2018 | Women's Tennis
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Ivone Alvaro earned a three-set win, highlighting the Tulane women's tennis team's second day of competition at the Florida State Invitational.
Playing in the consolation semifinals of her singles draw, Alvaro faced off against West Virginia's Anne-Sophie Courteau and won a tough first set, 7-5. Courteau battled back in the second frame however, holding on for a tight, 7-6(5) win, to force a third set tiebreaker. Alvaro took control however, closing it out, 10-6, to advance to Sunday's consolation final.
The Green Wave were competitive in their other three singles matches, but were unable to turn the tide and come away with victories. The Wave also suffered setbacks in their final two doubles matches of the tournament.
Tulane will take the courts at 8 a.m. (CT) for one final round of singles matches on Sunday morning.
