Women's Tennis Splits Doubles at Kentucky Hidden Dual
Nov 3, 2018 | Women's Tennis
LEXINGTON, Ky. - On the second day of the Kentucky Invitational, the Tulane women's tennis team split a pair of hidden dual doubles matches against Virginia Tech and Kentucky on Saturday morning at the University of Kentucky.
The Green Wave got the day started with three doubles matchups against Virginia Tech, as Alex Alegre and Laura Fabrizi got on the scoreboard quickly with a dominant, 8-1 victory over the Hokies' Annie Clark and Emily Pence. Despite Ivone Alvaro and Daniela La Fuente coming up just short in a tough, 8-7 setback, Adelaide Lavery and Christina Sisti proved to be the difference when they finished off Elizabet Danailova and Samantha Gillas, 8-6, to give Tulane two of three decisions.
The Wave were unable to build on that momentum against host Kentucky in the second hidden dual doubles contest, as the Wildcats were victorious in all three matches.
Tulane will finish the weekend on Sunday with two more rounds of singles against Virginia Tech (8:30 a.m.) and Kentucky (11:30 a.m.).
