Bowling Rises to No. 6 in Latest NTCA Poll
Dec 5, 2018 | Women's Bowling
NEW ORLEANS – After earning three top-10 finishes to start the season, the Tulane Green Wave bowling team has reached a program-best ranking of No. 6 in the latest poll by the National Tenpin Coaches Association.
The Green Wave sport an overall record of 25-13 so far this season, earning 1,161 points in the latest poll to move up from the tenth spot where the team began in the preseason. The No. 6 ranking is three spots better than the previous record, which was No. 9 set last December.
Tulane is one of six ranked teams from the Southland Bowling League, led by Vanderbilt at No. 3, Arkansas State at No. 4 and Sam Houston State at No. 5, with Stephen F. Austin sitting at No. 10 and Louisiana Tech at No. 14. Members Valparaiso and Youngstown State are both receiving votes in the latest poll.
Finishing fifth in their home tournament at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Bowling Invitational, the Green Wave went on to take seventh in Houston at the Kat Klash two weeks later. Against another challenging field in Delaware, Tulane had its best finish of the year placing third overall at the Hawk Classic to close the fall portion of the schedule.
Tulane has earned seven wins over teams that were ranked in the top 10, with the highest coming against then-No. 3 ranked Nebraska.
The Green Wave will open the spring portion of the schedule January 11-13 at the Mid-Winter Invitational in Jonesboro, Arkansas.
