Tulane Athletics Announces Wave 100 Initiative
Feb 20, 2018 | General, Green Wave Club
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane Athletics announced Tuesday the launch of Wave 100, a grassroots initiative to grow the Green Wave Club membership to 5,000 by the end of 2018 and tell the story of Green Wave student-athletes, coaches and staff.
A worldwide campaign, Wave 100 seeks the financial commitment of Tulane alumni and supporters with a gift of $100 or more to the Green Wave Club. Through local alumni chapters in each state and internationally, Tulane aims to increase Green Wave Club membership to propel the future success of athletics programs.
"Tulane is a global university with more than 150,000 living alumni," Ben Weiner Director of Athletics Chair Troy Dannen said. "We are seeking the support from alumni throughout the country and the world to help support our athletics programs and drive our mission to provide our student-athletes and staff with opportunities for competitive success and personal growth."
At 5,000 members the Green Wave Club – currently at 2,318 – would more than double the current membership. With student-athletes representing 27 U.S. states and 19 different countries, Tulane Athletics desires to increase Green Wave Club membership in each state and internationally.
Through GreenWaveClub.com/Wave100, alumni and supporters can join the movement and donate while tracking the progress of their home state. The website displays each region with its current Tulane alumni base, Green Wave Club membership and the membership goal for that region.
With a donation of $100 or more, supporters will receive a one-of-a-kind car decal specific to the donor's home state, allowing them to showcase their Tulane pride in their hometown. Wave 100 members are encouraged to share their car decals and support for Tulane on social media with #Wave100, and to recruit friends and fellow alumni to join the movement.
In the past year, Tulane student-athletes have compiled better than a 3.0 cumulative GPA, collected 219 conference, regional and national awards for athletics and academic success, and totaled more than 1,000 community service hours in the New Orleans community alone. Tulane student-athletes are making an impact across the entire landscape of intercollegiate athletics – in the classroom, in competition and in the community – and the Green Wave are trending upward.
As Tulane strives to develop the best and brightest student-athletes from all over the world, the Wave 100 movement will ensure Tulane student-athletes and staff continue to receive the resources needed to succeed on and off the field of competition, now and in the future.
