Women's Tennis Drops 4-2 Decision at LSU
Feb 20, 2018 | Women's Tennis
BATON ROUGE, La. - The Tulane women's tennis team notched the doubles point for an early lead, but could not hold on in a 4-2 road defeat at 23rd-ranked LSU on Tuesday.
The Green Wave got on the counter attack in doubles after LSU earned a 6-2 win at the No. 1 position, when Ivone Alvaro and Laura Fabrizi took down Jessica Golovin and Eden Richardson, 6-4, from the No. 2 spot to even it up. Christina Sisti and Alex Alegre clinched it from the No. 3 spot, winning by the same score, to give the Wave a 1-0 advantage heading into singles.
Tulane (6-4) pushed the advantage to 2-0 right off the bat in singles when Daniela La Fuente cruised past Ashton Rabalais, 6-0, 6-0, on court six. La Fuente is now 7-4 overall and 3-2 in dual matches this spring.
LSU (7-1) took control from that point however, earning straight set victories on courts four, one, three and two, respectively, to clinch the match and snap the Green Wave's three-match winning streak.
Next up, Tulane heads to Murfreesboro, Tenn., for a pair of matches this weekend, beginning with Chattanooga at 10 a.m., on Saturday, February 24 before taking on Middle Tennessee at 1:30 p.m., on Sunday.
