Women's Tennis Defeats Chattanooga, 5-2

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. - The Tulane women's tennis team got back to its winning ways and picked up its fourth victory in its last five matches by defeating Chattanooga, 5-2, on Saturday afternoon in a non-conference, neutral site match at Middle Tennessee State University.
Tulane (7-4) got an early lift when Sade Atkinson and Elena Muller were victorious at No. 1 doubles, 6-2, while Laura Fabrizi and Ivone Alvaro won by the same score at the No. 2 spot in the lineup to clinch the first team point of the match. The win by Fabrizi and Alvaro was the duo's fifth in a row, improving their record to 7-2 overall this spring.
Muller kept the rally going when she cruised to a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3 singles - the highest she's played in the lineup this season. Sade Atkinson also collected a straight set win on court two, 6-4, 6-2, while Christina Sisti earned a victory when her opponent retired in the third set. Sisti dropped the first frame, 6-1, but countered with a 6-3 triumph in the second before holding a 4-1 lead in the third set when the match concluded.
Freshman Alex Alegre also bounced back from a lost first set by taking the final two, 6-4 and 7-5, respectively to notched the Green Wave's fifth and final team point.
Tulane will finish the weekend with a road match on Sunday, February 25 against Middle Tennessee. First serve is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. (CT).
