COLUMBIA, S.C. - The 2018 regular season is in the books, and the Green Wave could not have finished stronger.
No. 19/16 Tulane beach volleyball swept Missouri State, 5-0, and defeated Coastal Carolina, 4-1, in the final day at the Palmetto Invitational, clinching a third consecutive 20-win season and leaving the final competition before the start of postseason play on a high note. The Green Wave's record now stands at 21-12 overall, 4-7 CCSA.

HOW IT HAPPENED
No. 19 Tulane 5, Missouri State 0
The Green Wave set the tone from first serve, starting the day with a sweep against Missouri State. All of Tulane's flight wins in the sweep came in straight sets.
Senior Lan Nguyen and sophomore Tarin Mergener, playing at No. 2, got Tulane on the board first with a 21-5, 21-13 win. Freshmen Ashley Delgado and Addison Hermstad extended the lead to 2-0 with a 21-12, 21-17 win in flight four.
Tulane's No. 1 pair of senior Madeline Mertz and sophomore Kaylie McHugh earned their 11th consecutive win, defeating Missouri State's top pair by a score of 21-12, 21-14 to give the Green Wave a 3-0 lead. The fourth win came in flight three, where junior Anna Chin and freshman Lauren Orlich won 21-11, 21-12.
Tulane clinched a dual sweep and its third straight 20-win season with a win in flight five. Freshmen pair Gabriella Becerra and Rio Frohoff won 21-16, 21-16.

Tulane's second win of the day - and 21st first of the season - came in the regular season finale against Coastal Carolina,
The Green Wave jumped out to a 2-0 advantage behind wins in flights four and two. Delgado and Hermstad, positioned at No. 4, won in straight sets, as did Nguyen and Mergener, who played at the two.
Becerra and Frohoff grabbed a win in flight five to give Tulane a 3-0 lead and the dual victory. The Wave's No. 5 pair won 21-13, 21-13.
Mertz and McHugh rolled past Coastal Carolina's top pair en route to their team-leading 27th win of the season and 12th straight win. Tulane's No.1 duo won in straight sets, 21-17, 21-18.
With an opportunity to sweep another opponent, Chin and Orlich battled to three sets before suffering the Green Wave's lone flight loss of the day. Tulane's No. 3 pair lost 19-21, 21-10, 15-17.
