NEW ORLEANS - Head coach and director of tennis Mark Booras has announced the addition of graduate transfer Felix Ewers and incoming freshman Benji Jacobson to the program's 2018 signing class.
"We're excited to add two guys at the level of Felix and Benji," head coach and director of tennis Mark Booras said. "They're both hard workers and great student-athletes. I think they're a perfect fit for what we're trying to do and I'm looking forward to both of them making an immediate impact on our program."
Ewers joins the Green Wave after lettering three years at the University of South Carolina-Upstate, where he played No. 1 singles for the Trojans during each of the last two seasons. This past spring, he won seven matches atop the singles lineup and led the team with 12 doubles wins en route to being named to the All-Atlantic Sun Conference First Team.

In 2017, Ewers won eight singles contests before going on to earn All-ASUN Conference Second Team honors. He was also named the league's player of the week one time. As a freshman in 2015, the Dortmund, Germany native was named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman Team after posting a 4-2 record in conference matches.
A native of Royal Oak, Michigan, Jacobson lettered four years at Cranbrook High School under head coach Steve Herdoiza, playing atop the team's singles lineup for three seasons. A three-time state champion in singles, he won back-to-back titles at No. 1 in the lineup as a junior and senior, and accomplished the same at the No. 2 position during his sophomore year. During his championship run as a senior in the fall of 2017, he did not lose a single set en route to winning the crown.
Individually, Jacobson earned All-America honors in 2014, 2016 and 2017, while receiving all-county, all-district and all-state recognition all four years. He received all-league selections during his final two seasons and was also named the team's most valuable player both times. In the fall of 2017, he named Michigan's "Mr. Tennis" for the state's division III level.
In the classroom, Jacobson has been a Dean's List student for three years and is a member of the National Honor Society. He was an all-academic performer all four years as a player from 2014-17.
His family also has ties to the college circuit, as his father, Mike, played at the University of Colorado, while his cousin, Rob, was a member of the team at Tufts University from 2013-16.
Jacobson is rated as a four-star prospect by Tennisrecruiting.net.
