NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University student-athletes continued to perform at an exceptional level in the classroom during the 2017-18 academic campaign, as the department featured an overall grade point average of 3.08.
Over the past academic year, 225 Green Wave student-athletes finished with a grade point average of 3.0, while 78 individuals were named to the Dean's List. Most recently during the spring semester, 65 percent of Tulane student-athletes finished a 3.0 grade point average or higher.
"I could not be more excited for the incredible accomplishments of our student-athletes in the classroom from this past year," Associate Athletics Director for Academic Services Charvi Greer said. "Their hard work and commitment has truly paid off. I am also incredibly proud of our academic services center staff for their role in assisting our student-athletes reach their academic goals."
At the end of the year, 53 Tulane student-athletes earned their degrees.
The American Athletic Conference also honored the Green Wave men's basketball and women's indoor and outdoor track and field teams with its Academic Excellence Award for achieving the league's highest grade point average.
In addition to its strong academic team performances, the department also finished the year with a pair American Athletic Conference Scholar Athletes of the Year in Constantin Schmitz (men's tennis) and Lauren Bartels (women's cross country).
