Aug 28, 2018 | Women's Bowling
The Green Wave will host its season opener on Oct. 19 with the Allstate Sugar Bowl Collegiate Bowling Invitational Tournament at Colonial Lanes in Haraham, Louisiana. Tulane took a second place finish at last year's tournament of 14 teams, beating No. 6 Stephen F. Austin for the top-two spot.
"We always try to have the most competitive schedule and this year is no different," head coach Hayley Veitch said. "With the uncertainty of the format and structure of the National Championship, we felt this schedule would give us the best possible chance of achieving our main goal of making it to Nationals."
From Nov. 2-4, the team will head to Houston, Texas for the Track Kat Klash Tournament. The Green Wave recorded a 10th place finish among the 21 teams at the tournament last season.
Tulane will then head to Millsboro, Delaware from Nov. 16-18 for the Hawk Classic, in which the team recorded an eight-place finish of 16 teams last season.
After winter break, the Green Wave will travel to Jonesboro, Arkansas for the Mid-Winter Invitational from Jan. 11-13. The No. 9 ranked team posted an 8-5 record at the tournament during the 2017 season, defeating No. 5 Sam Houston State and No. 7 Stephen F. Austin to finish in 5th place.
The following weekend, from Jan. 18-20, the team heads to Limerick, Pennsylvania for the Kutztown Invitational. Tulane had a successful finish at last year's contest, placing fourth of 27 teams, nine of which were ranked Top-10 in the country.
The Green Wave will then travel to Arlington, Texas from Feb. 1-3 for the Prairie View Invitational. The team took home ninth place at last season's tournament.
The following weekend, Tulane will make its way to Dallas, Texas for the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack Invitational. Last season's team finished seventh at the tournament, with junior Tiera Gulum recording the highest individual standings and earning tournament MVP honors.
After spring break, the Green Wave will attend the Music City Classic in Smyrna, Tennessee from March 15-17. From March 22-24, the Olive and Blue will travel back to Dallas, Texas for the Southland Bowling League Championship.
"With six dedicated and competitive student athletes, I believe we have the potential to improve from last years Top-10 ranking," Veitch said.Â
The NCAA Championships will be held from April 11-13 in Cleveland, Ohio.Â
