TULANE LOOKS TO BOUNCE BACK AGAINST NICHOLLS
- The Green Wave welcome Nicholls to Yulman Stadium Saturday night at 7 p.m. on Saturday. The game will be aired live on ESPN3.
- The Green Wave will look to bounce back from their 23-17 overtime loss Wake Forest on Aug. 30.
- The Tulane-Nicholls matchup will mark the first all-time meeting between the two schools.
- Tulane will honor the 1998 Tulane football team that finished the year 12-0.
FIRST AND 10
- Tulane enters its matchup with Nicholls after it put up 436 yards of total offense against Wake Forest in the season opener. Since head coach Willie Fritz arrived at Tulane in 2016, the Green Wave have surpassed 400 yards of total offense in 10 games.
- Tulane suffered a rare loss when leading after three quarters. Since Fritz arrived in 2016, the Green Wave are 7-3 all-time when leading after three quarters.
- Dating back to 2005, Tulane has played and defeated all 10 of its opponents from the Football Championship Subdivision.
- The Green Wave featured a strong rushing attack a year ago, averaging 231.5 yards per game which ranked fourth in The American and 20th in the FBS. Since 2016, Tulane's rushing attack has never gained fewer than 100 yards on the ground. The Green Wave rushed for 153 yards as a team last week.
- Wide receiver Terren Encalade posted a career-high 189 yards receiving in the Green Wave's season opener against Wake Forest and moved into 13th place all-time in career receiving yards. He needs just four yards to surpass 1,700 career receiving yards.
- Quarterback Jonathan Banks surpassed 2,000 career passing yards last week in Tulane's season opener against Wake Forest as he threw for 281 yards.
- Senior linebacker Zachery Harris is Tulane's top returning tackler from a year ago. Harris finished 2017 with 69 stops. Harris enters his senior season with 132 career tackles. He opened the year against Wake Forest with 8.0 tackles, 0.5 tackles for loss and a fumble recovery.
- Tulane returns 52 letterwinners and 18 starters from last year's squad.
- Head coach Willie Fritz begins his third season at Tulane. Now in his 26th year as a head coach, Fritz has never posted three straight losing seasons.
- Each of Fritz's assistants have remained on his staff for during his tenure at Tulane. Tulane is the only football staff in the country that has not changed in three seasons.
TULANE AND NICHOLLS TIES RUN DEEP
Although Tulane and Nicholls are facing one another for just the first time in program history, the two school share several connections. Former Nicholls head coaches Bill Clements, Phil Greco and Frank Young all served as assistant coaches at Tulane.
