NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane beach volleyball team is set to open its fall preseason slate this weekend, hosting New Orleans on Saturday at 9 a.m. at White Sands Volleyball Courts.
The match is free and open to the public, allowing fans a first look at the 2020 team and first-year head coach Eyal Zimet.
"We are excited to get our first fall competition underway this weekend," Zimet said. "The team has been training hard, and the opportunity to explore further our partnerships, chemistry and new aspects of our game on the sand in competition-setting is priceless for us. I'm looking forward to seeing our team take full advantage of this opportunity and test ourselves for the first time this fall. To all our supporters, see you at White Sands this Saturday!"
This weekend's scrimmage is the first of four this fall for the Green Wave. Tulane heads to Gulf Shores, Alabama next weekend to compete against seven teams in a tournament hosted by Spring Hill College before coming back to New Orleans to host LSU, TCU, New Orleans, Spring Hill and Southeastern Louisiana on Saturday, Nov. 9.
Tulane wraps up preseason action on the road on Sunday, Nov. 10, heading up to Baton Rouge to compete in the LSU Fall Competition Tournament.
The 2020 Olive and Blue squad features 11 returners – three seniors, five juniors and three sophomores – and three freshmen newcomers. Tulane finished the 2019 season with a 16-18 overall record, going undefeated at home (3-0).
