
Cross Country Closes Regular Season Action

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The Tulane cross country team wrapped up its final regular season meet on Saturday, with sophomore Evans Kipchumba highlighting the competition as he recorded a top 40 finish for the men's squad.
Kipchumba crossed the finish line with a time of 24:41.6 in the 8K, finishing in 38th place among 226 opponents.
Graduate student Tom Coe was next to finish for the Green Wave, earning a time of 25:16.4 to take 77th, and was followed by senior Carlos Zervigon in 117th with a time of 25:47.6.
Sophomore Bridgid Selfors was the first to finish for the Olive and Blue women in the 6K, earning a time of 21:56.0 to check in at 62nd among 238 total runners.
Next up was redshirt senior McKenzie Melius, who clocked in at 22:10.9 to finish in 80th. Senior Mary Catherine Stovall was close behind Melius, notching a 108th-place finish with a time of 22:26.1
Tulane's women's team earned a 20th overall finish in the meet, averaging 22:56.31, to defeat North Texas, UT-Arlington, Incarnate Word, UTSA, Trinity and Texas Christian. The men's team finished in 23rd, with an average time of 25:50.70, to beat Trinity, UTSA and Texas Christian.
Freshmen Samuel Kellum finished the race in 127th with a time of 25:59.7 and was followed by sophomore Ian Valdez in 201st with a time of 27:28.1 and sophomore Jamie Polakoff in 224th with a time of 28:58.0.
Sophomore Pauline Helm earned a 198th-place finish at 23:59.8 before sophomore Reid Belanger checked in in 203rd at 24:08.7 and senior Paige Fatland crossed the finish line in 213th at 24:34.1, rounding out the team's runners.
Following a week off, the Tulane cross country team is back in action on Friday, Nov. 1 and headed to Memphis to compete in the American Athletic Conference Championship.
