Women's Tennis Closes Day Three at ITA Southern Regional

BATON ROUGE, La. - Freshman Lahari Yelamanchili built on her big first day with a second round win in the singles main draw, but the Tulane women's tennis team's run at the 2019 ITA Southern Regional came to an end Saturday.

In doubles, Yelamanchili and Mackenzie Clark took to the courts for a second round match against Auburn as the Green Wave's only remaining tandem left in the main draw. Unfortunately, the Tigers used a pair of break to pull away and close out an 8-4 win.

Coming off a win over the nation's No. 11 player in Friday's first round, Yelamanchili continued her roll with a straight-set victory against McNeese State's Dalia Ahmed, 7-5, 6-1, to punch her ticket to the round of 16 later in the day.

Yelamanchili met Auburn's Selin Ovunc in the third round, but Ovunc proved to be too much as she rolled to a 6-1, 6-3 win.

Tulane finishes play in Baton Rouge on Sunday with consolation singles and doubles matches.
