Men's Tennis Wraps Play at Samford Invitational

NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane men's tennis team finished play in Birmingham, Ala., at the Samford Invitational on Sunday afternoon.
In doubles, Akos Kotorman and Benji Jacobson scored the Green Wave's lone victory with a 6-1 triumph, but Dane Esses and Henry Lovett had their three-match winning streak snapped in a 6-4 defeat.
Dane Esses scored Tulane's lone singles win of the day, topping Alabama's Alexey Nesterov in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2.
On the final day of pre-qualifying singles at the ITA All-American Championships in Tulsa, Okla., Tim Ruetzel needed two wins to reach the qualifying round, but suffered a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 defeat against Memphis' Jan Pallares in his first match of the day to end his run in the tournament.
The qualifying singles draw begins Monday, as Luis Erlenbusch and Hamish Stewart play first round matches.
