Women's Tennis Completes First Day in Tallahassee
Nov 8, 2019 | Women's Tennis
TALLAHASSEE - Despite rain abbreviating the schedule of play in the latter portion of the afternoon, the Tulane women's tennis team completed its first day of matches at the 2019 Seminole All-Conference Showdown at Florida State University.
The Green Wave got the day started with the first two rounds of singles, as the duo of Lauren Gish and Christina Sisti bounced back from a first round defeat to top a tandem from Furman University, 6-3. Mackenzie Clark and Laura Fabrizi were dealt the same hand, but defeated Arkansas in the consolation semifinal, 6-4.
In singles, Laura Fabrizi and Gish each bounced back from lost first sets in their respective quarterfinal bouts. Fabrizi took the second set, 6-3, against Matilde Mulatero, before outlasting her opponent, 13-11, in a third-set tiebreaker to advance. Gish defeated Middle Tennessee's Muskan Gupta, 6-1, in the second frame and battled her way to a 10-7 victory in the tiebreaker.
As a result of the inclement weather, Adelaide Lavery and Daniela La Fuente had their quarterfinal singles matches pushed to Saturday. Lavery will face ETSU's Alejandra Morales, while La Fuente will take on Furman's Georgie Walker.
