NEW ORLEANS – The Tulane beach volleyball team (9-7, 4-5 CCSA) is back at home this weekend for the second time this season, hosting the University of New Orleans and Coastal Carolina on Saturday in the Green Wave Invitational.
The Green Wave will matchup against UNO at 10 a.m. before facing Coastal Carolina at 2 p.m. at White Sands Volleyball Courts.
"We devoted a lot of time this week to improving everything we do, from playing to coaching, and I'm excited to see that process lead to results tomorrow," head coach Wayne Holly said.
All matches, including the UNO vs. Coastal Carolina match at 12 p.m., will be broadcast live on Cox Sports Television (CST) on channel 37. The broadcast will feature the matchups on courts one and four in each of the three competitions.
In Tulane's last time out on the sand, the team went 4-1 in the March to May, defeating UAB, Southern Miss, UNO and Houston Baptist while falling to No. 18 Georgia State. Three of the Green Wave's pairs – juniors Kaylie McHugh and Eva Torruella on court one, sophomores Rio Frohoff and Lauren Orlich on courts two and three and freshmen Haley Gibson and Ellie Leitko on court four – all won four matches to help the team to a successful two-day tournament.
After recording a win against the Privateers last weekend, the Green Wave now own a 9-0 record against UNO. New Orleans is 6-2 so far in 2019, defeating Nicholls, Southern Miss, Huntingdon, Texas A&M at Corpus Christi and Austin Peay in its first two weekends of action.
Coastal Carolina is heading to New Orleans with a 7-3 record, taking down Southern Miss twice before also beating Jacksonville, Tampa, UT Martin, Eckerd and UNC Wilmington. Tulane is 2-0 against the Seahawks, recording a 4-1 win in their last meeting in the Palmetto Invitational in the 2018 season.
Free pizza will be available for fans at the tournament (while supplies last) and Seegar's Sandbar will also provide the 'Green Wave Special' drink for those who are 21 and older.
Students and fans can also use Lyft code: TUBEACH2019 for $10 off of a ride to travel from campus to the White Sands Volleyball Courts.
Tulane's two matches on Saturday can also be streamed live here.
