Tulane Athletics Names Cummings Assistant AD for Major Gifts
Mar 8, 2019 | General
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane University Athletics announced today the addition of New Orleans native Jeff Cummings as its new Assistant Athletics Director for Major Gifts.
Cummings arrives at Tulane after spending the past year at the University of Missouri where he served as the Director of Development for Major Gifts. During his time at Missouri, Cummings secured over $350,000 in planned gifts. He also played a major role in the construction of the Mizzou football program's South End Zone Complex.
"Jeff will bring tremendous prospective to our department from both a local and national standpoint and will truly help elevate our staff," Associate Athletics Director for Development Garrett Broom said.
Cummings' tenure at Missouri also saw him identify, solicit and close individual major gift prospects, which produced a continuous stream of donors capable of designating gifts of $100,000 or more to the Tiger Athletics Department.
"I could not be more excited to come home to Tulane University and the New Orleans community," Cummings said. "This institution has always meant a great deal to me and I am truly honored to be part of this department's future."
Prior to his tenure at Missouri, Cummings made stops at Arkansas State (2017-18), Texas A&M (2015-16) and Louisiana Tech (2012-14).
Cummings' addition to the staff also is a homecoming for he and his family, as he began his collegiate athletics career at Tulane as a marketing and promotions assistant in 2007. In addition, his father Jeff Cummings Sr. played basketball for the Green Wave from 1975-77 and was inducted into the Tulane Athletics Hall of Fame in 2012.
"Jeff is someone who truly understands the history of Tulane University," Broom added. "His ties with Tulane and the New Orleans community run deep and I know he we will do a fantastic job engaging with our donors, fans, student-athletes and staff members."
Cummings returns to the Crescent City with his wife Samantha and daughter Audrey. The couple also is expecting their next child this spring.
