Tulane now awaits seeding for the 2019 American Athletic Conference Championship, which will be held April 17-20 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.
The Green Wave (10-13) found themselves in a battle right from the beginning with doubles play, as the Cougars (14-8) won No. 3 doubles, 6-0. Despite Daniela La Fuente and Laura Fabrizi countering with a 6-3 victory at No. 2, Charleston closed out court one by a 6-3 count to claim the first team point of the overall match.
The Cougars pushed their lead to 2-0 with the first singles win, collecting a straight-set win on court one. Ivone Alvaro and Adelaide Lavery countered and got Tulane on the scoreboard with straight-set victories on courts three and six, respectively, to knot the score, 2-2.
Alvaro topped Anastasia Palaska, 6-3, 6-3, before Lavery topped Catalina Medici, 6-3, 6-4.
Charleston remained in control from there however, winning in straight sets on courts two and four to seal the victory.
