Men’s Tennis Adds Charlie Barry to Program
Jan 7, 2020 | Men's Tennis
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane director of tennis and men's head coach Mark Booras announced the signing of Charlie Barry to a National Letter of Intent.
Barry will be immediately eligible as a freshman for the start of the 2020 spring season.
"We are excited to have Charlie join our program this spring," Booras said. "His athletic ability, positive energy and tunnel vision focus to be the best he can be will definitely make an immediate positive impact on our team, and he will fit right in."
A native of Limerick, Ireland, Barry makes his way to New Orleans after spending the last three years at Kilroy's in Dublin, following one year at Ardscoil Rís. He reached as high as No. 401 in the ITF rankings and was listed as the No. 1 junior player in Ireland for his age group and No. 2 at the U18 level.
During his time on the ITF tour, Barry reached six ITF doubles finals, including a victory in Norway in 2019, and won the 2018 ITF Juniors Championship in Bahrain in 2018. In 2015, he was Ireland's U14 national champion.
Tulane returns to the courts in January for the start of dual match play.
