
Tulane Relay Teams Shine During Day One of the AAC Championships

HOUSTON – The Tulane University swimming and diving team opened day one competition at the 2020 American Athletic Conference Championships on a high note by posting a pair of top five finishes Wednesday evening. The AAC Championships are being held inside the CRWC Natatorium at the University of Houston.
The Green Wave's 800-yard freestyle relay squad consisting of freshman Lilly Byrne, senior Olivia Johnson, freshman Kate Amar and Iza Pelka highlighted day one competition, finishing in a school-record time of 7:14.30 to finish third.
Tulane's 200-yard medley relay team of freshman Ashley Carollo, junior Kate McDonald, freshman Madison Cummings and junior Courtney Barker took fifth in a time of 1:41.27.
In the 3-meter dive, freshman Gabby Hebert (221.10) and sophomore Anne Marie Kenny (218.80), respectively.
The Green Wave enters day two competition in sixth place with 60 points, but remains within striking distance of Connecticut (75 points) and East Carolina (67 points). Houston holds the overall team lead with 135 points.
