
Byrne and McDonald Shine During Day Two Competition at the AAC Championships

HOUSTON – Freshman Lilly Byrne and junior Kate McDonald both made trips to the medal stand to highlight day two competition at the 2020 American Athletic Conference Championships on Thursday night.
The four-day AAC Championships are being held inside the CRWC Natatorium at the University of Houston.
Tulane kicked off finals competition on a high note in the 500 freestyle, as Byrne, senior Olivia Johnson and sophomore Noa Heron all scored points for the Green Wave, as they finished second, fourth and 14th, respectively.
Byrne's time of 4:42.78 served as a school record and a personal-best. The time also was under the NCAA B-cut time. Johnson's time of 4:45.06 was a personal best performance.
Tulane continued its strong performances into the 200 IM, as McDonald and senior Jordan Morling both scored points for the Green Wave, as they took third and 11th, respectively.
McDonald's third-place finishing time of 1:58.01 was a personal best and a school record. The performance also served as an NCAA B-cut time and was four seconds better than her season-best time.
Morling's performance of 2:01.77 also was a personal-best showing.
The Green Wave enters day three competition in fifth place with 149 points. Houston holds the overall team lead with 388.5 points.
