Tulane Tennis Collects Top Five Finishes Nationally in Community Service Hours
Apr 1, 2020 | Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis
NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane University men's and women's tennis programs collected top five finishes respectively in the 2020 NCAA Team Works Helper Helper Community Service Competition. The hours were collected during the 2019-20 school year.
The women's program finished second among all NCAA Division I institutions behind only American Athletic Conference member Memphis, while the men's team placed fourth overall.
"We are proud to have both our men's and women's tennis programs in the top five," Tulane assistant athletics director of student-athlete enhancement Dr. Cornell Sneed said. "Both teams have done great serving the community between their demanding academic and athletic schedules. I thank coaches Mark Booras and Maria Brito for making service a priority within their programs."
Both Green Wave programs logged over 100 hours, respectively, in civic service initiatives with local organizations. They accumulated a majority of their hours with The Green Project and the Catholic Charities Archdiocese of New Orleans.
Helper Helper is an app and web portal that makes it simple for institutions to track hours and coordinate community service opportunities. Helper Helper works with over 350 colleges and universities nationwide and is an official partner of NCAA Team Works.
The app and service was founded by former University of Michigan women's basketball player Krista Clement to simplify the volunteer process for students and help them create a lasting impact with the communities that support them.
