Men’s Basketball Adds Vanderbilt Transfer Oton Jankovic
Apr 17, 2020 | Men's Basketball
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane men's basketball second-year head coach Ron Hunter signed his second transfer to the program this offseason with the addition of Vanderbilt forward Oton Jankovic in an announcement Friday.
Â
Under current NCAA transfer rules, Jankovic will be required to sit out next season but will take the court for the 2021-22 campaign with three years of eligibility remaining.
Â
"Oton is an important addition to what we want to accomplish at Tulane," Hunter said. "He has the ability to stretch the floor and adds skill and depth to our forward position."
Â
A 6'10 frontcourt presence, Jankovic appeared in 21 contests for the Commodores last season and averaged 6.2 minutes per game. Among his top performances, he scored five points off the bench in a road win at Alabama, had two blocks against Texas A&M and recorded three rebounds on three different occasions.
Â
Prior to his time at Vanderbilt, the Zagreb, Croatia native played one year at Montverde Academy in Florida in 2018-19. He also spent two years at Prolific Prep in California after maturing in the Cibona Zagreb youth system in Croatia, where he averaged 10 points per game in his age-group FIBA European Championship.
Â
Jankovic is the fourth newcomer to join the Green Wave this offseason along with Pitt graduate transfer Ryan Murphy and incoming freshmen Sion James and Jadan Coleman.
