Introducing The Terminator
Aug 16, 2020 | Football
NEW ORLEANS – Tulane football sophomore Sincere Haynesworth views himself as the quarterback of the offensive line. His head coach however, has a much different view of the 6 foot 1 inch, 310 pound bulldozer.
Â
"He's like the terminator," Fritz said. "He can go all day. Nothing gets in his way, so he's going to play every snap."
Â
Entering his second season with the Green Wave, Haynesworth has made an immediate impact within the program. As a freshman in 2019, the Pearland, Texas, native appeared in 11 games and made five starts.
Â
"I love that I can give them (the coaches) that confidence," Haynesworth said. "I love that I can be a sure thing for them and that they can trust me to do what I need to do. I'm just ready to play, ready to learn and keep going."
Â
Haynesworth played a key role in 2019 paving the way for the Green Wave ground game to rush for 243.2 yards per game - a figure that ranked 11th in the nation a year ago. Tulane also finished the year with over 3,000 yards on the ground for the first time in school history.
Â
Throughout fall camp, Haynesworth has continued to impress Tulane coaches and has established himself as the clear cut starter at center, heading into the 2020 season. He also has made a strong impact in the weight room, as he bench presses over 400 pounds and squats over 600 pounds.
Â
"He's got great balance," Fritz said. "He's very, very light on his feet. A lot of times you get those big guys and you have to build their stamina up, but he's had that stamina since day one. I think he's got an opportunity to be an all-conference guy. He's a guy who is going to keep playing after he's done here if he continues with his improvement. He's an excellent football player and he's one of the best in our program."
Â
Teammate Tyjae Spears, who was part of the same recruiting class as Haynesworth, also has noticed the commitment he has made toward establishing himself as one of the top players in the program.
Â
"He's special," Spears said. "He moved from guard to center, but he can move anywhere on the line and be special. He goes hard every day and he's going to win a majority of the reps."
