
Cross Country Set to Compete in NCAA South Central Regional

NEW ORLEANS - The Tulane University men's and women's cross country teams will travel to Waco, Texas, Friday to compete in the NCAA South Central Regional.
Friday's races will kick off with the women's 6k at 10 a.m. followed by the men's 10k at 11 a.m. The races will take place at the Cottonwood Creek Golf Course.
In the men's race, the Green Wave will go head-to-head with a pair of nationally ranked teams among the rest of the field in No. 7 Arkansas and No. 14 Texas. On the women's side, the Olive and Blue only face one nationally ranked opponent in No. 8 Arkansas.
The top two teams from each of the nine regions contested automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships, which will be held in Tallahassee, Florida, on Saturday, November 20. In addition to the 18 teams who auto qualify, the rest of the field will be completed with 13 at-large selections.
The Olive and Blue last saw action at the American Athletic Conference Championship on Oct. 29. Graduate student Therese Olshanski became Tulane's second ever All-AAC selection after finishing ninth with a time of 21:42.1.
The Green Wave women's team finished 10th at the AAC Championship with an average time of 23:49 in the 6k. The men's team claimed an eighth-place finish in the 8k with a 27:05 average.
